Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel?
Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you'd rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory.
Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen?
No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame.
Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer?
We do not recommend it and it will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
Can I put my Kanteen on a stove?
In a pinch, the Kanteen can be placed on fire or a stove. Beware not to melt the plastic lid or burn yourself.
What is stainless steel?

I was looking for a stainless steel water bottle that was sturdy, lightweight, durable. This bottle is all that and more. The sports cap makes it great for yoga class. It fits in my car cup holder, it's easy to clean. And I love the color.

Love the item, but the paint chipped in one area within a week of receiving this gift. It hasn't spread, and I really don't care as long as my drink stays in the bottle when it is sealed.

It says that you can put those bottles in the dishwasher. I bought two and put only one of them in the dishwasher; its enamel is chipping and so is the enamel on the other bottle that has not been in the dishwasher.
The cap leaks after two weeks of use.
Great design, practical size (12 oz) to give a kid to school, but poor quality and expensive at that.

I am satisfied with this product. I purchased it for my 4-year-old daughter to take along on activities such as gymnastics and ballet - and just to have around for convenience. And that's exactly what's it's been - very convenient. I have only one gripe: if you do not make sure that the cap is pushed down (hard) and snapped into place, it will leak when tipped over. If it is snapped into place, then it does not seem to leak. But the force it takes to push it down is more than my 4 year old can manage on her own, so it has caused some leaks. But since we only use this bottle for water, nothing horrible resulted from that. Overall, I would buy this product again and am more pleased than displeased. Also, my bottle is pink and the paint has not chipped at all as some other reviewers indicated it might.

After we had serious doubts wether or not our daughter`s aluminium bottle was safe we were looking for a stainless steel bottle for her. The Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Bottle seems to be what we were looking for: It`s material does not seem to alter the taste of water or juice we put in there (unlike our old bottle), it has a very wide neck which makes it easy to clean and the lid closes tightly and doesn`t spill while it is in my daughter`s bag or backpack. She uses it every day in daycare and preschool and is really happy with it. I would highly recommend this product.
