About Sigg
It all started with a simple hiker's bottle. Today, the SIGG bottle has acquired cult status. What happened is a success story that started in Biel, Switzerland in 1908. Küng, Sigg & Cie. manufactured leisure goods, kitchenware, and electrical appliances. The company relocated to Frauenfeld in 1916, where it helped pioneer the legendary tradition of Swiss quality. Since 1998, SIGG has concentrated on its core business: drinking bottles that deliver ultimate customer benefit.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can Sigg bottles be used for boiling water?
A: No. Strong heat can damage the outer coating.
Q: Can dents in the bottle damage the Sigg bottle's inner coating?
A: No, the Sigg inner coating is highly elastic. Dents cannot crack or chip the internal lining and the Sigg bottle remains perfectly usable.
Q: Can I use my Sigg bottle for carbonated drinks?
A: Yes, all Sigg bottle tops provide a 100 percent seal and will not leak. It's recommended that you fill the bottle no further than 1/2-inch below the lip. And before taking a drink, relieve the pressure inside the bottle by gently rotating the entire top.
Q: Are Sigg bottles dishwasher safe?
A: Yes, but because of the narrow mouth of the bottle, hand washing is recommended.
Q: Can a Sigg bottle be placed in the freezer
A: No, as this may cause the bottle to crack. However, the bottle can be chilled in the refrigerator.

I bought two of these Sigg bottles for my husband and me two years ago, when I was trying to get us some BPA-free bottles. Even though these are not supposed to have a metallic taste, we found that they did, and, after using these for a few months, I bought us Nalgene bottles instead, which we've been much happier with.

SIGG recently admitted that BPA is in their old liner, but not the "new" one. Really? BPA has been in there for years, but you never mentioned it until now? And, we are supposed to trust you on the new liner? Stay away from SIGG if you want a bottle without BPA.

This is my third SIGG bottle and even though I'm a middle-aged male, I love the design and cool colors of the robot and the powder-blue color of the bottle itself. Superb fit & finish. The Swiss quality and materials used are very evident. SIGG has been making aluminum water bottle for over 100 years, so I think they know a thing or two about them by now!
I like to compare SIGG water bottles to a good Swiss watch, like an Omega or possibly a Rolex, but not like an ordinary (Swiss) Swatch watch...It's got more quality and durability than a typical aluminum water bottle, even those you can get at REI or other sports retailers or department stores.
If you want piece of mind, good tasting water and long life from your water bottle, spend the (almost) twenty bucks on this bottle. It will last you for years! If you want a cheap, not-sure-whats-in-it aluminum bottle, mass produced with little quality control, get one from WalMart, they sell for around three bucks.

This is a nice bottle - no plastic taste, and the water tastes fresh even if stored in the bottle for a while.
The Sigg Sport Top is awful. It's a bit counter intuitive, where pushing it against your lips will open the valve to let water out while you drink. The downside of the design is that if you throw this in a bag or backpack, the bottle will jostle around and eventually push up against something in your bag and leak water. This happened to my wife twice.
We replaced the Sport Top with a regular screw-top, and have enjoyed leak-free drinking water ever since.

I ordered "Rise Above Plastic," and it did NOT come with a sport top, although the name and description of this item clearly state that the sport top is included. Return forms, emails and a phone call resulted in Amazon shipping me two replacements that also did not have a sport top. And apparently it is impossible for Amazon to send me a sport top which it sells separately. Amazon FAIL!
